Amy Winehouse is not in rehab
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is not in rehab - despite reports to the contrary, her rep has said.
"Amy is not in rehab," her rep told People. "She was seeing a doctor who she regularly sees as part of her ongoing treatment. It was a regular appointment which she attends all the time. She has not checked in overnight."
The rep, who refused to comment on the nature of the treatment, did say in December that Winehouse was "under supervision for both physical and all health issues," after she was photographed barefoot and wearing only a bra outside her London home. According to the rep, the treatment began when Winehouse canceled her tour in November.
"The tour was very hard on her – there wasn't [a doctor] on the road with her or anything, but she was not sleeping, on a tour bus, up late, driving from city to city, and it was hard for her," said the rep. "She saw a doctor in London when she was here for the shows, and it was the doctor who said, 'You're not in a condition to continue touring.' "
Reports that the 24-year-old singer had checked into rehab, followed the posting of a shocking video allegedly showing the singer smoking crack from a pipe by British newspaper The Sun.
Source close to Amy - famous for the lyrics "they tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no," agree that she needs help.
"It's really sad. Everyone knows she needs help – even she knows she needs help," a music industry insider closer to Winehouse told People.com on Tuesday. "The video is horrible but I hope it forces her to do something."
