Britney Spears invalid license charge remains unresolved

January 26 2008

Britney SpearsBritney Spears will have to wait to find out what charges she will face for driving without a valid driver license, as her latest trial remains unresolved.

Spears' attorney, Michael Flanagan answered reporters' questions outside the Van Nuys court in LA today (25 January) regarding Britney's latest court battle.

Flanagan revealed that his client is not disputing the facts, but is asking for a more lenient result.

Flanagan said: "We are not disputing the facts. We need more time with this and there will be another person coming forward in the next hearing that should resolve things. We are asking for common sense, because she now has a Californian license and didn't realize she couldn't use her Louisiana license to drive in Los Angeles."

Flanagan refused to say who the new party was, but revealed nothing will be resolved until a new hearing on 20 February, as another court battle continues to rumble on.

Flanagan also revealed that it is unlikely Spears will face any jail time and is more likely to face a fine.

He said: "I expect she will pay a fine, but I don't think anything more than that."

Britney Spears did not make an appearance at court today, is also unlikely to appear for the next hearing, Flanagan told reporters.

"She didn't need to appear today and doesn't need to appear for the next hearing."

The charges stem from in incident on 6 August 2006, when Kim Robard-Rifkin alleged that Spears hit her Mercedes- Benz station wagon in a San Fernando Valley parking lot.

The hit and run incident was dismissed on 25 October when Britney paid Robard-Rifkin $1000 for damages.
