Christian Brando dies aged 49

Late movie legend Marlon Brando's eldest son Christian has died aged 49, it has been confirmed.

Christian had been admitted to hospital in Los Angeles with pneumonia earlier this month but was expected to make a full recovery.

He was 'Godfather' screen great Brando's son from an affair with actress Anna Kashfi.

Christian went to prison for voluntary manslaughter in 1990 for killing his half-sister's boyfriend Dag Drollet.

And in 2001 actor Robert Blake claimed Christian was involved in the murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley, who had been dating them both.

Bonnie had named Christian as the father of her child, but tests proved the baby was Blake's.

Christian had small acting roles but never came close to matching the fame of his Oscar-winning father. He had most recently been working in construction under a pseudonym, according to US reports.

David Seeley, a lawyer for Marlon Brando's estate, said: "This is a sad and difficult time for the family."
