Tom Cruise donated $5m to Scientology last year, but was beaten by Bart Simpson
Longtime Scientologist Tom Cruise donated a whopping $5 million to the religion last year. Scientology
But even his generous donation was beaten by Bart Simpson - or rather the woman who voices the little yellow cartoon character.
Nancy Cartwright gave the church a massive $10 million to help spread the word of fonder L Ron Hubbard.
The donation was all part of Scientology's Global Salvage effort, which aims to "de-aberrate" Earth - meaning to rid mankind of psychology ills and other "aberrant" behavior.
Surprisingly, Nancy, 50, forked over twice as much as the Scientology's most prominent member, Tom Cruise, gave his $5 million in an installment plan.
Nancy, like her fellow principal cast members on The Simpsons, has reportedly been earning $250,000 per episode since 2004, when her salary was upped from $125,000 per episode.
At 22 episodes per season, that makes for an annual paycheck of $5.5 million.
Actress Kirstie Alley matched Tom's donation but fellow actors John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston donated just a million each.
And the former Mrs. Elvis, Priscilla Presley, kicked in a much smaller donation of $50,000.
In 2004, Mission Impossible star Cruise was awarded a Platinum Meritorious Award for a $2.5 million gift. Two years later, he doled out another $2.5 million, for which the International Association of Scientologists kicked him up to Diamond Meritorious awardee.
Recent Scientology publications reveal that a host of A-list Scientologists were honored for their generosity at a black-tie awards ceremony at the church's headquarters in Clearwater, Florida last summer.
PageSix.com obtained copies of Impact magazine, which feature images of the various gold trophies, crystal statuettes and plaques "awarded to members who have donated" the respective amounts of money.
The Simpsons star Cartwright (above) appears in a photo at the event with Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige.
Here are some of the celeb gifts from 2007 and their corresponding rewards:
* Nancy Cartwright, 50, Patron Laureate Award: $10 million.
* Kirstie Alley, 57, Diamond Meritorious Award: $5 million.
* John Travolta, 53, Gold Meritorious Award: $1 million.
* Kelly Preston, 45, Gold Meritorious Award: $1 million.
* Priscilla Presley, 62, Patron Award: $50,000.

Was not remotely interested
Was not remotely interested in Scientology as I am a Spiritualist but all the recent news about Scientology has got me so curios that I surfed their site and was very surprised at the articles and their teachings, very similar to my beliefs about taking responsibility for your own life and wanting to make better your own life, others lives and looking after the planet.
I have asked them to send me brochures so all the massive exposure has really given them mega interest.
And i do not have a fortune to give them so I shall read more of their info with a very open mind.

I'm not a scientologist and
I'm not a scientologist and I wish I could
change this conversation to one about Christianity
but I went to several Scientology web sites
and think that what it has to offer is very much needed in our world.
They do a lot of good
things. I remember reading something in the Katrina news too
about Scientology crews there and John Travolta going around in
a boat to help. I have a lot of respect for John Travolta and
personally am moved by Tom Cruz's passion for what he believes
in. I did notice that no matter how angry they become in their
subject of passion, they don't lower themselves to the level you
have permitted yourselves to sink. But then that is likely normal
ops for you in daily life. You guys are a bunch of bored
computer nerds with too much time on your hands. I don't care
how far fetched a religion seems or how passionate the
members. But what I read so far was positive and actually quiet
admirable. I found a personality test on one of the sites. I'm
tired tonight but I'm going to take it tomorrow. Interesting. Back
off and get a life okay
Well, when the christianity
Well, when the christianity was extremely cultic and criminal - killing what they were brainwashed into calling "infidels", abusing of their wives and enslaving their kids, big donors were those Nobles and Kings spending a lot to ...become the true kings of the planet. That was the real puirpose behind the Crusades and Inquisition. It can't be acceptable now that stars try to dominate the planet through their highly fraudulous cult scientology.
Evidences of scientology crimes are all over the web. Trying to silence its critics is just one more such attempt of domination.
I guess that just goes to
I guess that just goes to show that he's not as dedicated to the church as he should be.
Ya know it's funny that a
Ya know it's funny that a guy who is such a strong actor can't see the forrest for the trees . . .unless, you think he knows it's a CULT? Well than I guess that makes him a fucking scumbag, at least in my opinion. Cartwright and the rest of the gang too.
Well, it's not like they
Well, it's not like they can't use the money!! I mean, Thrakkor the Magnificent's war against the Giant Space Bugs of Alpha Centauri is going very badly, public opinion among the Thetan people is down, and laser cannons are EXPENSIVE!!! Taxes need to be levied for the good of the entire race! THINK people.....sheesh!
Scientology is not a
Scientology is not a religion. It is a paranoid cult. To see how you may be able to join Project Chanology, and help with the current fight against Scientology please go to: http://project-chanology.blogspot.com
The reason their hits have
The reason their hits have skyrocketed, you tool, is because they are being attacked by Anonymous and all their secrets are being downloaded. Also, the FBI has evidence of Scientology's attempts to infilitrate government agencies such as the IRS. Keep spinning.
Also, when you refer to objectivity, I've never heard a Scientologist defend their beliefs beyond, "please don't criticise my beliefs" or you just go on the attack in an attempt to sidetrack the issue. You should report back to headquarters and try to come up with better talking points. Get your other tools on the same page.
How odd that not one of
How odd that not one of these rabid scientology critics pens one phrase of objectivity or balance. Hmmm, guess that's what qualifies them as "rabid."
But not one of them says, "I don't like Hubbard's ideas about the soul, but look at the good they do in literacy, drug abuse, prisons, yada-yada.
One has to wonder if these haters are really there "as people." Who would want that kind of personality as a friend?
Let Tom and "Bart" and Travolta and Kirstie donate all they want. At least I'm not so jealous of their talents and earning power that I criticize their every move.
PS: I just checked Alexa.com and Scientology.org hits have skyrocketed.
Ironic, huh?
