Ashlee Simpson insists her father's not controlling

Ashlee Simpson insists her father/manager Joe is not controlling.

The 'Pieces of Me' singer says her dad - a former Baptist youth minister - is "awesome", despite rumors he dictates every part of her life, including who she dates.

She said: "He's so awesome. I'm lucky because he truly does care about me, and some people would be after money or this or that. He's actually one of my really good friends. People really have the wrong idea about him."

Ashlee is currently dating Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz and says the couple couldn't be happier. "He's an awesome, supportive boyfriend," she said. "We both give each other honest opinions so that's cool. That's all I could ever ask for."

Ashlee - the younger sister of singer Jessica - also revealed she hates constantly being in the public spotlight, saying: "It's frustrating if there's a photographer outside Starbucks when you're getting a coffee, or at the grocery store when you're in your pajamas. I've definitely had moments where I'm like, 'Ah, get out of my face!'"
