Charlize Theron gets tipsy at Harvard

Charlize Theron knocked back "74 shots" of alcohol before accepting her Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year award Thursday.

The Oscar-winning 'Battle in Seattle' actress was forced to dance to disco music, show off her best modelling poses and flirt with a man dressed as an elephant to prove to Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals troupe she was a worthy Woman of the Year.

She laughed: "The only challenge today was trying to keep the amount of liquor down that they were feeding me. I did about 74 shots!"

Each year the troupe - America's oldest undergraduate drama group - choose a woman and man of the year, who they feel best exhibit role model qualities.

Awards spokesperson Talisa Friedman said: "She's done so many different projects, she has such a range. Charlize is someone we can look up to."

Charlize follows in the footsteps of Scarlett Johansson, Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Halle Berry, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who have all received the gold-coloured pot in honour of their achievements.

Christopher Walken will accept his Man of the Year award in a similar ceremony on February 15.
