Val Kilmer to voice Knight Rider

Val KilmerHollywood actor Val Kilmer will lend his voice to KITT for the new Knight Rider series.

The 'Top Gun' actor will be the man behind the talking car when the series hits U.S. screens later this year.

The original - and rather camp KITT - was voiced by William Daniels for more than 80 episodes of the series. But producers felt the new Ford Mustang  KITT could do with some more star power.

Val Kilmer star of "Batman Forever," "Heat" and "Top Gun," previously lent his voice-over skills to the 1998 animated film, "The Prince of Egypt."
