Paris HiltonParis Hilton's new movie has bombed at the US box office.

The Hottie and the Nottie, a romantic comedy starring Hilton, Joel David Moore, and Christine Lakin, opened on Friday at 111 screens. It took just $9,000 USD - the equivalent of $81 USD per screen, according to Box Office Mojo.

Meanwhile, Fool's Gold, the romantic comedy starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, also opened on Friday,  to $7.65 million on 3,125 screens, or $2,148 per screen, the company said.

Hilton, 26, recently said of her role in the comedy: "Actors are really great if they've lived the life of a lot of things happen to them.

"I've had a lot happen to me in my life. Now I've learned to use those experiences in my acting."

The hotel heiress co-stars next in this year's musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, opposite Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega.

Trade magazine the Hollywood Reporter said of The Hottie and the Nottie in a review: "Hilton fulfills her sexpot role - needless to say, she performs the "downward dog" yoga position with particular skill - without embarrassing herself, and Moore and Lakin are quite appealing.

"But 'Hottie and the Nottie' is ultimately best suited for the confines of late-night cable."
