Psychologist slashed to death with a meat cleaver

A New York psychologist was slashed to death with a meat cleaver in her Manhattan office.

Police have launched a manhunt to find the killer of Kathryn Faughey, who was murdered on the swanky Upper East Side on Tuesday.

A male therapist who tried to save 56-year-old Faughey was seriously injured. He was treated by doctors at New York-Presbyterian Hospital for cuts to his face.

NYPD officers have not confirmed if the killer, who struck at 9pm at the East 79th Street office, was one of Faughey's patients. A meat cleaver and a knife were reportedly discovered at the scene.

Faughey, who received multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, was a licensed psychologist who practiced behavioral therapy.
