Britney Spears' brother set to manage her assets

February 15 2008

Britney SpearsBritney Spears' family are taking over her life! -- the troubled singer's brother, Bryan has been named trustee to Britney's trust.

Court papers state that the L.A. Superior Court has appointed Bryan Spears and attorney Ivan Taback her temporary Successor Co-Trustees, putting them in charge of managing the pop star's trust in the event that her current trustees, father Jamie Spears and lawyer Andrew M. Wallet, cannot.

The trust had been entirely in Brit's name, however, according to the the documents, other people can be added to the if the acting trustee "is under a legal disability or if by reason of illness or mental or physical disability, in the written opinion of two doctors then practicing medicine, he or she is unable to manage his or her affairs."

Britney Spears' father, meanwhile, is to remain in control of the Toxic star's affairs for another month.

Jamie Spears' power to control his daughter's life was extended last night at a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Commissioner Reva Goetz extended the conservatorship order until at least March 10.

Under the powers of the conservatorship order, Jamie Spears is able to restrict the visitors Britney receives and has the right to approve contracts.

Spears parents applied for the order after Britney was committed at the UCLA Medical Centre in the early morning hours of January 31.
