Paris Hilton being investigated by pet control bosses

Hollywood socialist Paris Hilton is being investigated by pet control bosses - after she boasted she had 17 dogs.

The heiress appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres US chat show earlier this week and revealed she had the large pack of pooches. But an animal rescue group saw the show and immediately contacted the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services.

The LADAS then paid a visit to Hilton's Hollywood home to investigate the complaint because having that many dogs is a big no-no in the city of Los Angeles.

A non-breeder is only allowed three dogs per address - 14 less than the number Paris boasts she owns. However when LADAS Captain Bowers went to her address he found her not at home and the home under construction.

Paris was off partying in Las Vegas, so Captain Bowers left word with her maid - but claims he has not heard back.

But the LADAS has confirmed they will continue the investigation until they can find out if Paris really does have 17 dogs - or if they all live with her at the same address.
