Britney Spears' pal Sam Lutfi being investigated by the LAPD

Britney Spears' pal and self-proclaimed manager Sam Lufi is under investigation by the LAPD for allegedly drugging the troubled pop princess.

Citing law enforcement sources, TMZ.com say that the Major Crimes Division of the LAPD is on the case.

The conservators have complained that Lutfi drugged Spears as a way of keeping her under his control.

Lutfi  could not be reached for comment, however, Michael Sands, Lutfi's spokesperson, said he is aware of the investigation.

And, on the eve of the one-year anniversary of her infamous head-shaving episode, Britney, 26, was back out shopping.

She cruised into Betsey Johnson on Melrose Ave., carrying a dress on a white plastic hanger.

Surrounded by her usual mob of paparazzi pals she then made her way to the new Monique Lhuillier store.
