Rare Rolling Stones album to go under the hammer

A Rolling Stones album bought for $4 could fetch up to $10,000 when it goes under the hammer.

The 1976 album is believed to be signed by the band's members - as well as John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison.

Alan Judd, a spokesman for Bamfords Auctioneers in Derby, England said the sale had sparked a lot of interest.

He told a UK website: "I've looked at the album very carefully and there's no doubt in my mind that these are genuine signatures.

"There was all that time after Brian Jones died where the Rolling Stones didn't really have a replacement.

"Then Ronnie Wood came along and that was the moment the band was really back together as a full group.

"I think they were all together for a celebration, a really seminal moment."

The sale takes place on 20 February at Bamfords.

Experts think the Black and Blue album was autographed as part of a celebration to welcome Ronnie Wood, who replaced Mick Taylor in the Rolling Stones in 1976.

The owner - an anonymous man from Derbyshire, England - bought the album at a car boot sale [flea market], and even bartered with the seller, getting the price down from an original $6.
