Patrick Swayze diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; has five weeks to live
Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live, according to a shocking new report from the US.
The actor, 55, was reportedly diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.
For the past month, the actor and dancer has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful, according to the National Enquirer.
Patrick and wife Lisa Niemi — who are both qualified pilots — have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto’s airport, minutes away from the Stanford Cancer Center, where Swayze — who has starred in films such as, Road House, Father Hood & Donnie Darko, has received outpatient treatment.
Swayze — who has previously attended a clinic to overcome alcoholism after his sister Vicky died from an overdose of painkillers in 1994 — received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for — and Patrick was told he should prepare for the end.
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure,” said an insider.
The man who danced into the hearts of audiences worldwide in his breakthrough role as the dance instructor in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing, and then broke them in the poignant love story Ghost in the early ’90s, has reportedly lost more than 20 pounds in the past few weeks and is restricted to a liquid diet because he has trouble keeping down solid food, the insider told the Enquirer.
“It’s time to start praying for a miracle.”

I’m sorry to hear of this diagnosis. It is most unfortunate Mr.Swayze utilized chemotherapy as his treatment choice. There are many other alternative treatments to cancer. It is sad he did not try those first.

What I want to know is what is the National Enquirer’s source from this. How do they know how many chemo therapy’s he has had? The don’t say that they have a valid source. I would like to hear from a representative for Patrick. I believe the National Enquirer is not the most reliable source for celebrity news. I mean there are celebrities suing them for false statements. I want the truth, and I am not sure this is the truth.

If true, it’s a terrible loss. Swayze was one of the very few Hollywood people that was a decent, honorable person.
Married to the same woman for over 2/3 of his life, without a hint of scandal ?
One of the very few film stars I’d hold up as an example for my children.

He has become the “bad boy” every little boy would love to be. lol

Reality immitating fiction: I remember when he played a soldier in M.A.S.H. that developed, in the day, incurable leukemia and had only a short time to live. Now, in real life, he is fighting incurable pancreatic cancer. A miracle is always possible, but if it is his time, let us hope he can face death in reality as his character did in fiction, with grace, humility, and faith in God’s plan.

Wow! This knocks me over…I was just looking at a DVD yesterday, of his. You can’t get enough versions. My survival thru meeting a new partner then getting Cancer, then something else.. Patrick and his Mother helped save me. Mainly Patrick. He had his convictions. He was working for that “vehicle” that would pair him with his love, his wife, Lisa. Patrick, you have done that.

I am just so saddened to hear this. It was probably brought on from the drinking. I know this from a family member who had pancreatic infection & almost died from his drinking. Wow, Patrick is way too young to die, and as someone else said, we are losing so many of our actors/musicians lately at young ages. My prayers will be with you Patrick. It’s hard to think positive with a diagnosis like that, but just know that we all love you & you’re in our prayers. Much love & healing is sent your way.

My father in law was dying of the same ugly, unwelcome, fatal, illness. He had three blood transfusions at our local hospital to extend his life. This was so that he could tell his family what he wanted and to make up his will.

I couldn’t be more sad,I just love him and his acting. Look into Maitake mushroom, D-fraction. It’s great for the immune system and has been known to shrink tumors. It works great with chemo and will help him get his appetite back. I do wish him the best of luck and he will be in my prayers. A true fan.
