Cynthia Nixon opens up about her lesbian relationship

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon has opened up for the first time about her lesbian relationship.

The flamed-haired star has previously said little about her life with Christine Marinoni, whom she has dated since 2003.

Nixon began seeing Marinoni after splitting with her boyfriend of 15-years, Danny Mozes, with whom she had a daughter, 11-year-old Samantha, and a son, six-year-old Charles.

"I'm in a fantastic relationship. It's been about four years," Nixon, 41, said. "I'm in love with Christine because she's her. If she were a man, would I be in love with her? I don't know.

"We shop and cook and raise children - we both pitch in."

Nixon says her children have had no problem adapting to her change in lifestyle. "They were fine. My son was very little, but my daughter has a gay uncle and her godmothers are lesbians."

Nixon's comments were supposed to be released to coincide with the release of the Sex and the City movie in May, but appeared this week in OK! magazine.
