Britney Spears can be given pocket money by her father
Britney Spears can be given pocket money by her father, a court ruled today.
Los Angeles Superior Court decided that Jamie Spears, who is in charge of his daughter's affairs, can issue her with a credit card.
The pop wreck will given $1,500 a week to 'enjoy herself'.
Jamie Spears was put in charge of his daughter's estate after she was committed into a psychiatric award earlier this year. He can control her spending, her employees and any business arrangements she wishes to make.
But in today's latest conservatorship hearing Britney got a bit more financial freedom.
"We want to issue her with a credit or debit card so she has some spending money and some freedom of choice as to how she wants to enjoy herself," lawyer Geraldine Wyle, representing Jamie Spears, said. "We propose about $1,500 a week."
Commissioner Riva Goetz said: "I have no problem with that."
Jamie Spears, who was earlier in court for Britney and Kevin Federline's custody case, was back in the same building in the afternoon for the conservatorship hearing. He looked tired as he entered the courtroom, accompanied by co-conservator Andrew Wallet.
Commissioner Goetz said she had received two petitions for a permanent conservatiorship - one for Britney's person and one for her estate - which will be dealt with at a hearing on July 31.
After making the request for Britney's credit card, Ms Wyle said they also wanted to enlist the help of 'entertainment counsel' to assist them with the singer's affairs. She said they had found a 'local counsel' who would do it for a retainer fee of $15,000 a month.
The Commisisoner Mr Wallet said the conservators 'bond' was still enough. He said they were currently using Britney's periodic assets to pay her bills and had a sum of $135,000 to use. "For now we are probably Ok," Mr Wallet told the court.
The Commissioner revealed that Britney indicated she might attend today's hearing - but the singer's lawyer Samuel Ingham said she did not want to come.
"My client has been inconsistent with her possible attendance at this hearing," he said. "The last word I had from her was that she did not attend to appear.
"I have discussed this date with her repeatedly. I would categorise her as unwilling to appear."
Mr Ingham said although Britney did not object to the hearing taking place, she did object to 'elements' of it.
The rest of the hearing was held behind closed doors as reports in the US surfaced that Britney had signed on for a guest role in the hit CBS show How I Met Your Mother.
Britney's agent Jason Trawick from William Morris made the deal with producers on the show, according to a report on TMZ.com .
One source told TMZ it was "a small legitimate project that will keep her busy doing something." We're told it's not long term and her dad -- her conservator -- is down with it and has signed off."
