Eliot Spitzer linked to a prostitution ring

March 11 2008

Eliot SpitzerNew York's Governor Eliot Spitzer was today sensationally being linked to a prostitution ring in bombshell U.S. reports.

According to the New York Times, the married Governor huddled with his top aides inside his Fifth Avenue apartment and broke the shock news to them.

The New York Times said an unnamed administration official revealed that Spitzer "has informed his most senior administration officials" that he "had been involved in a prostitution ring".

He was today expected to make a public statement having canceled all his appointments.

The Times believes Spitzer, a married father of three, is believed to have been named in court papers as part of a ring in which four people were arrested last week.

"A person with knowledge of the governor's role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers," the Times said.

Spitzer is a first term Democrat who pledged to bring ethics reform an end the often seamy ways of Albany, New York.

Ironically, when he was attorney general, he was known for his tough approach on crime - and brought down at least two prostitution rings as head of the state's organized crime task force.
