Courtney Love defends conmen allegations; dismisses claims she is bipolar
Courtney Love has defended allegations that conmen bought a house using her late husband's name after critics dismissed the claims, saying she was bipolar.
Love - who was married to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain until his suicide in 1994 - launched a police probe last week.
She claims that identity thieves used Cobain's social security number to buy a $3.2 million mansion in New Jersey last year.
She also alleges that the thieves opened 188 credit cards in her name and embezzled as much as $69 million from the couple and the trust fund of their daughter, 14-year-old Frances Bean.
But it was claimed that the Los Angeles Police Department [LAPD] laughed off her complaint - and now she if firing back.
The former Hole rocker wrote on her blog: "God, people are batsh*t.
"And im not the one who is. and i hear now i am 'Bi Polar' uhhhh ... thats more nuts than I will ever be."
Love, 43, added: "I may be Eccentric, i certainly speak my mind and am slow to put out a record i need to mean the world to ME, and im sure i am quite Nuerotic but 'Bi Polar'. Thats just slander."
A source told celebrity website TMZ last week: "Courtney is simply (and possibly medically) delusional.
"[The LAPD] is not taking it seriously.
"[They] found out she's been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
"Law enforcement thinks the identity fraud is in Courtney's mind."
An LAPD spokesman declined to comment on Love's filing.
Lawyer Howard Weitzman told a New York newspaper: "There is an ongoing investigation into the identity-theft and fraud issues Courtney is concerned about.
"I am not at liberty to say who is conducting the investigation."

When did bipolar become
When did bipolar become laughable? It's no less real than cancer. Whether Courtney was or is a drug addicted crazed maniac is beside the point. If she has proof that she is a victim of Identity Theft she should be taken seriously.
But, this story smells like a publicity plant to me. Showbiz Spy comes through again.
