Lily Allen 'sinking deeper into depression'

Lily AllenLily Allen's closest pals fear the pint-sized singer is sinking deeper into depression since suffering a miscarriage and splitting with her boyfriend, Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons shortly after.

Lily, 22, is currently seeking treatment for depression at a top London clinic, and friends fear the worst for the sad star.

"She's hit the depths an it's very worrying for all of us," said a pal of the singer. "It's been such a rough few months and it's no surprise that she's not happy.

"It just seems she's not coping with everything and we really do think she's not in the state of mind to be doing anything other than getting herself better.

"But she's still working hard, which doesn't seem the best thing for her at the moment."

During her treatment, the 'Smile' star is allowed to leave the facility to film her TV show Lily Allen and Friends, and on Mondays she is allowed visits from friends. But the pal added to Britain's Closer magazine: "We're not just talking about Lily being a bit down - she's severely depressed and can't handle anymore emotional troubles.

"She certainly doesn't need any stress in her life."

Lily suffered a miscarriage at the beginning of the year, and split from 37-year-old Ed Simons, the baby's father shortly after. Pals say their relationship broke down partly due to the 15-year age gap between the pair, and the fact that Lily slipped back into her partying ways in a bid to block out her miscarriage misery.

"She copes with things by drinking and having large nights out when things go wrong," said the pal. "She was mortified to be ditched.

"She didn't think Ed would leave her.

"When he told her it was over she was crushed.

"She got more and more depressed and just couldn't seem to get herself back on track."

Last week, Lily - the daughter of British actor Keith Allen - admitted that she had been finding it hard to ditch her partying lifestyle.

"I've been sad and quite lonely recently," she said, "because if you're young, living in London and working in this industry - unless you drink and take drugs - there's not much to do.

"I've been sitting on my own watching TV. It's boring to go out if everyone else is taking cocaine and shouting at me."
