Disgraced Eliot Spitzer's sex scandal has sparked a new fashion craze with more than 6,000 internet designs poking fun at the "Luv Guv".

Thousands of T-shirts, hats and even thongs featuring cheeky slogans like "You got the time, I've got the dime, I am Client Number 9" are available on websites.

The sex-filled tale of how the New York governor threw away his political career for a tryst with a high-priced hooker has inspired designers.

Websites like cafepress.com, which lets designers post their own creations, say punters are going crazy for Spitzer items.

One design features shamed Spitzer dressed up like a 1970s pimp, above the slogan "The Luv Guv".

A cafepress.com spokeswoman said: "The story has really caught the public interest and there has been a huge demand."
