Christian Slater to star in NBC spy drama

Actor Christian Slater has landed a major new TV role as a Jason Bourne-style action hero.

Slater, whose career has been quiet since his initial spectacular rise to fame, is the main star in the as-yet unnamed series on NBC in the U.S.

The drama is described as "The Bourne Identity" meets "Jekyll & Hyde", with Slater playing a mild-mannered suburban dad who learns that his alter ego is a spy.

Although only playing very small roles in movies, with occasional guest appearances in TV shows, Slater still remained in the spotlight thanks both  his bad boy behaviour, and now his high-profile relationship with Tamara Mellon.
