Keith Richards urges Amy Winehouse to clean up her act

Amy WinehouseRolling Stones legend Keith Richards has revealed the only modern singer he rates is Amy Winehouse - but stressed that if she doesn't clean up her act - she "wouldn't be around for long".

Asked which modern day artists he rated, Keith, 64, explained: "There's only one person. That girl Amy.

"Mind you, that girl isn't going to be around long unless she sorts herself out pretty quick. Amy's got to get smart."

The guitarist - famous for his huge consumption of illegal drugs - said he did not expect the troubled star to listen to his advice.

"I'm not a preacher. But I've been there and you have to pass it on," he said.

Speaking to Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper, Richards' bandmate Mick Jagger confessed that the Rolling Stones' music suffered as a result of their own drug abuse in the Seventies.

"It completely took over our lives creatively and we couldn't do this and couldn't do that," Jagger said. "You had to spend all your time trying to deal with the police. The same thing has happened to Amy Winehouse."
