George Clooney to be godfather to Nicole Nicole Kidman's baby

George Clooney is set to be godfather to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's baby.

The Golden Compass star, 40, thinks Clooney will be the ideal candidate -- and he has agreed to take on the role.

A source said: "Nicole asked George to be her baby's godfather and he said 'yes'.

"They are great friends and she can think of no one more perfect for the job."

Earlier this year, the Ocean's 11 star said of Nicole: "She will be a perfect mother."

George, 46, who is currently dating former cocktail waitress Sarah Larson, 29, has no children of his own -- and has previously confessed to having a $100,000 bet with Nicole and Michelle Pfeiffer about staying childless until he's 50.

He met Kidman on the set of their 1997 film The Peacemaker.
