Heather Mills to appeal $50m divorce reward

Heather MillsHeather Mills is said to be "seriously considering" an appeal after her $50m divorce reward, friends claim.

Sources close to the ex-glamor model -- dubbed Mucca by British tabloids due to her porn past -- say she is unhappy with the amount and with the guardianship arrangements for her and Sir Paul McCartney's 4-year-old daughter Bea.

The High Court judge is to rule on the settlement today, but the two sides have had the details to pore over since Thursday.

The 40-year-old animal rights activist -- who has been married once before -- is understood to be "deeply dismayed" by the judgment

A source close to the estranged couple said: "She is not at all happy. She expected to get more money than £25million ($50m) otherwise she could have settled months ago.

"But it's not really about the money. She is more upset about who will care for Beatrice if both she and Paul died.

"They both want different people to look after Bea and it appears Paul has got his way.

"Heather is considering carefully the pros and cons of taking it to the Court of Appeal.

"She knows it is the last thing Paul would want but she is also aware it would mean months more of legal wrangling and she has to decide if she is up to that or whether to draw a line and walk away."

Mr Justice Bennett will today give a written judgment on the two-year divorce battle at London's High Court. It has widely been reported that Heather will receive a $50m chunk of former Beatles' estimated $1.65bn fortune.

Divorce expert Vanessa Lloyd Platt -- who's not involved in the case, but is highly knowledgeable in her field -- said yesterday: "If Heather took the custody issue to the Court of Appeal it would remain private. But if she decides to appeal on the financial settlement it would be heard in public."
