Jim Carrey's 'Horton Hears A Who!' tops the US film charts
Jim Carrey scored box office success over the weekend as his latest movie 'Horton Hears A Who!' topped the US film charts.
The computer animated adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic earned weekend sales of $45.1 million at the North American box office, making it the biggest opening of the year.
The 20th Century Fox release, which cost $85 million, features the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.
Carrey, 46, is the voice of Horton, an elephant that stumbles upon a speck that turns out to be a tiny planet, home to a city called Who-ville.
It's a return to form for Canadian born Carrey, ranking as his best start since May 2003, when hit comedy 'Bruce Almighty' made an outstanding $67.95 million.
It's not the first time Carrey has appeared in a Dr. Seuss adaptation. In 2000 Carrey appeared in 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', earning rave reviews.

Dr. Seuss is classic; after
Dr. Seuss is classic; after seeing Horton Hears a Who i was reminded how much that guy can pack into a simple storyline... they didn't add much to the original story either except for the usual Jim Carreyisms.
