Amy Winehouse to be paid $1m to perform at George Clooney's party
Troubled Amy Winehouse is to be paid $1milion to perform at a party thrown by George Clooney and Julia Roberts, it emerged today.
A source said: "Amy was taken a back when she learned that Clooney and Roberts were after her.
"She hasn't really taken it in - and keeps saying that her life is getting more surreal by the second."
The Hollywood heavyweights have offered the 24-year-old singer the vast sum to perform at the celebrity event in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, New York, on May 5.
Host Giorgio Armani asked institute co-chairs George and Julia to sign up the five-time Grammy Award winner.
The source added: "Giorgio has made no secret to his friends that he would love to work with Amy. He sees this party as an ideal opportunity to sound her out about future projects together."
The event is one of the most high profile parties on the US social calendar. Fashion king Armani hosted a similar event at Earls Court, London, last year when Beyonce, 50 Cent, Razorlight and Bryan Ferry all performed.
The source added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "After the Grammys, it was expected Amy would be in demand. Clooney and Roberts' reps have been phoning her offices and sending dozens of emails to convince her to take part. She's seriously considering their generous offer."
This isn't the first time Amy has been paid a huge sum to perform at a private party.
Only last month, the 'Rehab' star was paid a reported $1m by fashion house Louis Vuitton to perform at their bash during Paris Fashion Week.
