George Clooney: "I did try to adopt Britney Spears"

George Clooney says he once thought about adopting Britney Spears -- so that she could look after him in later life.

The 'Michael Clayton' star, 46, told Britain's Marie Claire magazine: "I did try to adopt Britney Spears – you know, somebody with some cash to take care of me in my old age. She wasn't having it."

Clooney also hinted he may be settling down with his new girlfriend Sarah Larson, a former cocktail waitress.

He said he thinks about marriage "every other day", and that, "[marriage] is something that's a sort of endgame for people."

The Hollywood star is currently promoting his new film Leather-heads with co-star Renée Zellweger.
