Heath Ledger's uncle says love child reports were taken out of context

April 3 2008

Heath LedgerHeath Ledger's uncle, Mike, says reports the tragic actor fathered a secret child have been blown out of proportion.

"All my brother Haydn said was that anything is possible, and from there, it just went absolutely berserk," Mike tells Us Weekly magazine in a telephone interview Wednesday. "At the end of the day, our thoughts are with the little girl in question, and we're not prepared to make any more comments at all."

Mike then goes on to say that the comments -- originally made by Haydn Ledger to Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper -- were taken out of context. "Haydn was asked a question that wasn't directly related to the Heath issue: 'If someone was this age, could it be possible?' and Haydn said 'Anything is possible,' and that’s it. His statement was absolutely taken out of context. Absolutely."

But Mike admits that neither he or Mile know for sure if the Brokeback Mountain star had another child or not. "It's just a rumor! It’s been a rumor for a long while," he said. "Heath was a young, good-looking guy, and he attracted lots of women.

"I really feel for the little girl that’s in the middle of this, and my thoughts are with her and her alone. The little girl is the most important thing in the whole thing."
