Mischa Barton police mugshotMischa Barton's lawyer today entered a plea of no contest in her DUI case.

The 22-year-old actress did not attend the hearing -- which was held in a Beverly Hills courthouse.

Barton -- famous for her role as Marissa Cooper in American television series The O.C. -- was put on three years' probation, ordered to attend a three-month alcohol education program and fined $1,652.

As part of her plea, the marijuana possession charges were dropped.

Legal experts say such a deal is common for first-time offenders.

Barton was arrested for DUI in Los Angeles on Dec. 27, after sheriff deputies spotted her weaving between two lanes of traffic and she failed to signal when making a turn.

On Jan. 10, Barton said on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-F.M. radio show: "Obviously I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case. I'm really disappointed in myself. I don't know what to say about it, except that I'm not perfect, and I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again."

A statement from Barton's rep wasn't immediately available.
