Matt Lauer: ‘Tom Cruise doesn’t need to apologize”

Matt LauerMatt Lauer insists there’s no hard feelings between him and Tom Cruise.

The Today Show host and the Top Gun star came to blows in 2005 over Scientology’s stance against psychiatric medication — causing headlines across the gloge.

Cruise, 45, admitted that he regretted the spat when he appeared on Oprah last week. And  Lauer says it’s all water under the bridge; and there’s no need for Tom to apologize.

He says, “I don’t think he needs to apologize.

“I don’t feel there are any hard feelings. It was an interview. It was a good moment on television.”

Lauer confessed that he didn’t watch the actor’s interview. “I was traveling,” he tells People.com “I didn’t see the interview. Somebody told me a little bit.”

In fact, Lauer said he would welcome the chance to interview the Hollywood titan again. “The doors are open,” he added. “I hope he comes back and seems me real soon.”

  2. Tom Cruise is a pimp by my stardards. Come on look at where he is. Rich, famous, goodlooking, set for life. So he stands up for what he believes in. Is that a charactor flaw? nope. So Vomit-boy get to his success level and maybe i’ll take ur advice. First step might be to move out of your parents basement… just a thought

  3. I’m not a Scientologist but I’d say that Mr
Lauer must have done some research and
realized he might be missing out on some great technology.

  4. I think the truth is, if you believe half the gossip mags about anybody, people would be married and divorced 8 times a year, pregnant 4 times a year, possibly taking drugs, involved with men/women other than their spouses twice a month, spending too much, or stingy as hell, and thinking about adopting… Matt Lauer obviously having met Tom Cruise, sees him for what he is–look out, here it comes–a decent human being.
