Jennie Garth joins 90210 spin-off

Jennie Garth is set to return to her 90210 roots -- and has agreed to star in the new Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off.

Garth will reprise her role as Kelly Taylor from the original series.

In the spinoff, Kelly is a guiding counselor at her alma mater, West Beverly Hills High.

There was speculation that she would be returning to the series after she dropped out of a CBS pilot called My Best Friend's Girl last month.

CBS and CW, who are producing the spin-off, even hint that others from the original may return — calling Garth "the first cast member to reprise her role."

Garth starred on 90210 from 1990 to 2000 alongside Luke Perry, Jason Priestley and Shannon Doherty.

Since departing the teen drama, Garth has appeared on Dancing With the Stars and What I Like About You on The WB.
