Whitney Houston memorizes lyrics backstage

May 10 2008

Whitney HoustonPop superstar Whitney Houston was so nervous before her comeback gig at the Legends Ball, she had her assistant pin the lyrics to her famous songs to a wall so she could memorize tracks.

The 44-year-old singer -- who hasn't released a new album in five years -- asked for an area backstage where she could rehearse some of her biggest hits.

A backstage source said: "Whitney was really nervous before her set. She didn't make any diva demands and was polite to everyone. She spent 45 minutes reading the lyrics, mouthing the words and holding her hands as if in prayer."

Celebrities including Mickey Rooney, Boyzone and Sugababes turned out in force to see Whitney's Evolution show in London -- where, say reports, she "absolutely nailed it".

I am sooooooo glad to see

I am sooooooo glad to see Ms. Houston on the comeback trail !!! She was beautiful and gifted, not talented, when I was a 14 year old adolescent drooling over her first album cover, and playing and replaying her songs over the years. I'm glad she "took out the trash," so to speak, and is now focused, and ready to reign again as the queen of pop. Welcome back, Whitney, we missed you.

A day never goes by without

A day never goes by without me listening to your famous pop hits. It's written all over your pretty eyes that you are back for good to inspire us with your talented and lovely voice. For me, it's a blessing to have you back to the music industry and I wish you all the best as you hit us again. bye!!!!
