Jessica Simpson used Ashlee's wedding to test Tony Romo

Jessica Simpson used her sister Ashlee's wedding as a 'test' for Tony Romo, according to a report.

Rumors this past week have been rife that Jessica, 27, has split from the Dallas Cowboys quarterback; and there is even speculation as to how "close" they might have been at Ashlee's wedding to Pete Wentz Saturday.

But, according to sources, Romo's attendance at the wedding was a "test" that he needed to pass if there was any chance of the pair getting back together.

A source tells MSNBC.com's The Scoop, "They’ve broken up a hundred times,

"They’d had another of their ‘breakups’ before the wedding, but it was clear to him that he had to go as Jess’s date if there was any hope that the relationship would work out."
