Amy Winehouse wins Ivor Novello Award

Amy WinehouseSoul star Amy Winehouse won a songwriting honor at the 2008 Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday.

The British singer took the award for her track Love Is A Losing Game, but lost out in the Best-Selling Song category to Beyonce Knowles and Shakira's Beautiful Liar.

Winehouse was at the London ceremony, but the prize was collected by her father Mitch.

He said, "Unfortunately Amy couldn't make it (up on stage), but she is getting better and sends you all her love.

"She has asked me to thank the Ivors for being the first to recognise her songwriting talents."

Take That's Shine was named Most Played Song, while singer Phil Collins won the International Achievement Award.

Meanwhile, Atonement won Best Film, while Oliver Twist was the winner of Best TV Soundtrack.

The annual Ivor Novello Awards honour the best British music publishers, songwriters and composers.
