August Moves From Broadway To Big Screen

Broadway sensation AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is to be made into a movie, after wowing theatre-goes and critics during a year-long stint on the New York stage.

The play, written by Tracy Letts, follows an Oklahoma family after the disappearance of the patriarch.

The production has been a regular sell-out and scooped five Tony Awards earlier this year (08) – prompting Hollywood bosses to sit up and take notice.

A screenplay is currently being worked on, with no budget or shooting schedule yet decided.

But Hollywood producer Jean Doumanian is convinced she will have no trouble casting the film – because so many stars have checked out the play, including Nicole Kidman, who attended a performance with her husband Keith Urban earlier this year (08).

Doumanian says, “So many actors and stars have come to see it on Broadway, and we’ve gotten inquiries. People are enthusiastic about the film version.”
