Drescher Teams Up With Ex For Gay Marriage Campaign Gala

Actress FRAN DRESCHER is leading the charge to end opposition to same-sex marriages in California by co-hosting a cocktail party at her ex-husband’s Los Angeles home.

The U.S. star and her ex, Peter Marc Jacobson, are teaming up to host a benefit for Equality California – the group fighting to defeat an upcoming ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in California.

Gay couples, like Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi, have been taking advantage of new marriage laws that permit same-sex nuptials by exchanging vows this summer (08) – but the new regulations could be overturned in November (08) if anti-gay marriage activists get their way.

Drescher tells Eonline.com, “I’m a gay icon… (and) I’m a political activist who believes in preserving the American dream which is tolerance of diversity and the separation of church and state…It’s simply un-American not to be tolerant of different lifestyles. If you wanna live in a single-minded, religious-based country you’re in the wrong place.”

Guests at Wednesday night’s (03Sep08) fundraiser have paid at least $100 (GBP54) each to hang out with Drescher and her ex. The actress insists she and Jacobson are the best of friends.

She adds, “We have very similar beliefs in terms of ideology as well as theology.”

      This country was not based on all of this bs that Fran is talking about. This is strictly satan doing all of the talking through people like her. Let’s put God back into daily living and we will see things change much quicker with less hassle unless of course we have activists like Fran, Tom Cruise, etc, etc. to bud in because of all of the liberalism they have to offer that is not of GOD.

        Ricardo Farone-why are you to say what is of god? isn’t that a sin? live by the rules God has set up for you, you are not to judge or use God’s name in oppression, He judges, not YOU. Jesus said “treat the least of man as you would treat me” since you think gays are the least, then live by your savior’s RULE. And it seems right wing zealots have gay sex on their minds too much, think about helping fellow man………

    I love Fran as Miss Fine. Fran is a great actress, and comedian, her timing is perfect. It saddens me to learn Fran’s views on life and religion. I did not crawl out of a swamp somewhere but was created by God. Jesus died for me so that one day I might truely live. I am the daughter of a King and proud to live like it with high moral values.

      Nicely said Ricardo and Frances. It’s truely sad to see the work of Satan. So many will be deceived, He wrote and so many are! Just to think Jewish believers, and Occult practices such as Kabbalah (Madonna, Tom Cruise…), don’t even reconize that Jesus is King, Lord of Lords, AND the Messiah, this is where the root of decieving begins. She needs prayer, anyone that can spend 21 years of her life with a man, and not just accept his choice, but embrace it with helping him “hook up”, is truely ill and searching herself, all she needs is Jesus!

    I feel like we were all created equally, straight or gay and the bible says God loves all of us, even if we are not perfect. I believe in traditional marriage but I do think there should be some sort of rights that are similar to that of a married couple for lifetime partners. I mean some states still have common law marriage that afords the same privilages to unmarried longtime heterosexual couples as traditionally married couples have so why shouldn’t gay couples have some sort of similar arrangement?

    Yes!! Anyone not for equal marriage rights is anti-gay marriage. Stop trying to hide like the wolf in sheep’s clothing by saying you’re pro-traditional marriage. This country WAS based on principles of working towards all equality as we have been doing for the last 234+ years. If gay equality is the cause of all mankind’s ills – then how does one explain all the wars, plagues, pestilence, injustices over the last 1000 years since the Pope began making homosexuality un-Christian back in the Dark Ages.

    Learn your history and the Bible before making offensive remarks.

      I don’t believe either you Cristal or Rodney know the Word, considering your statements here…???? We are specifically commenting on Fran’s choice here, just as well as posting a comment on an article for example of Pornography and it’s horrible effects on the world, as well as MANY other mankind ill’s as you put it, there are indeed many!
      You both might want to consider reading Soam and Gomorrah in Genesis 18:16-19.29

      If you can’t get clear clairifcation from just this,not to mention the other hundreds of passages Old and New, then you might want to ask the Holy Spirit to remove your blinders and read it again.
      Remember one thing He (God/Jesus)calls the final shot in the end, if you believe at all, we are suppose to obey people in authority to a degree, but to embrace ungodly ways (laws and acts) is against Him, He wrote the laws not us, we just like to rearrange an justify what works for us, do we call the final shot or does He? This is what makes me follow His direct truth, not the worlds.

    This world is a mess, we are a mess. Things will not be as they should until Jesus returns and starts putting things in order. If anyone would take the time to read what GODS word says in The Bible, homosexuality is addressed. I do not put a lot of time and energy talking to folks about it. I will just say the bible speaks on this subject. It does surprise me how mainstream homosexuality has become. Satan is indeed busy!! If anyone watched The View this week, Belinda Carlyle from the GoGos, she said her son told her he liked boys! I would fall through the floor or more likely to the floor if my son ever told me that. She just smiled like it was no big deal. She said it took her husband a year to accept it. Well I’m sorry, I would never accept it!!! Because it is not GODS design!!! I am far from perfect, but homosexuality is out of control!!!!!!!! Thanks Jackie for schooling Rodney!! Speaking of the View, they always have Mario Cantone on there with all of his gay glory!! Sherri Shephard and Elizabeth are outspoken Christians, but they just smile and go along with all of the homo talk. I do not hate homosexuals, I hate the act of it.

      you have greatly contradicted yourself, who are you do “judge” each and everyones attempt to defend the Word of God? Do you see I capitalized God, when you use His name that’s proper/repectful ALL the time. You seem like a “hater” more than any of the rest of us???? you only commented on the ones who were standing for God and His truth. Please spare yourself from throwing a scripture/s around unless you read it to it’s entirety! There are MANY that speak about truth, forgiveness, and what He has called us to do in His Kingdom (FYI, is on Earth too). Obdience is necessary to following His laws! We are to judge by ones fruit, we do not call the final shot He does, so I would rather stand before Him confidently knowing I did what I could to lead people to HIS truth, rather than the world’s, He warns us many times of this, read it, you may feel a bit of conviction, for going up against everyone that stands for Him:)

    If they are best friends???? Why the fight over the remaining seasons of the Nanny release? Fran, if by chance you look through these comments, it saddens my heart greatly that you choose to embrace this “choice” your ex-husband has made. You have spent more than half of your life with this man, or at least knowing him closely, and I would find this repulsive and deeply hurtful, seeing what you two have went through together. I could never imagine the shock, this must of been for you after all it’s 11 years later and we (public) just know find out?? I feel for you, and hope you embrace the Lord’s truth through this event, if it were acceptable and meant to be homosexual, we as human beings would become extinct,(I’m not speaking in terms of adoption, or any other form of parenting)only the facts of procreation between a man and a woman, that should say a lot, it’s really black and white. Unless you believe otherwise, which if I’m not mistaken you are of Jewish belief.

    If God didn’t want gays in the World, he would NOT HAVE INVENTED THEM. Get a grip. Don’t base your life on a lot of crap written by people that lived 2000 years ago and that was put together by the Catholic Church in 325AD. They went through writings and decided what they wanted in their books and threw out anything that supported gay rights, women’s rights, etc. It is a historical fact that this happened but most people are not intelligent enough to read and find this out.

    You’re just showing your stupidity by not researching and studying to see if what you believe is founded in truth or in mythology.
