Minnie Driver has given birth to her first child — a son, her rep has confirmed.
The actress, 38, announced her pregnancy during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno in March. She has refused to reveal the baby’s identity, but has denied it is San Francisco musician Craig Zolezzi.
Henry Story Drive — who weighed 9 lbs., 12 oz. — was born Friday in Los Angeles, rep Jessica Kolstad says.
The baby’s father is English and “sort of in the same business,” she told the U.K.’s Independent in May.
However, Minnie insisted in June that the dad will be involved in the baby’s life.
“He’s going to be a dad so yeah he’s going to be there for the kid,” she said. “I’m not getting married to this person and I don’t know what’s going to happen but everyone is cool about the situation.”
“Babies are endlessly fascinating to look at and I’m obsessed about their complete and utter lack of guile,” Driver has said. “I’m looking forward to seeing life through the eyes of my own kid.”
She also says she plans on spending lots of time hanging out at the beach with her child. “I love the ocean and this baby will probably be surfing and swimming before it can walk.”
Driver — who did not know the baby’s gender while pregnant — has said she wanted to give birth naturally.
“I’m totally the crunchy, Mother Earth-type, and I’m not looking for any type of intervention,” she has said. “So I’m afraid.”
During the last few weeks of her pregnancy, she said she was playing guitar for the baby.
“I think it likes it,” she said. “It moves around a lot.”
She recently filmed the aptly-titled comedy Motherhood, due out next year, with Uma Thurman.
