Slipknot Rocker Blames Labels For Piracy

Posted by

SLIPKNOT rocker COREY TAYLOR blames record companies for album piracy, insisting new music isn’t worth paying for.

The frontman is urging big labels to stop targetting fans who download tracks illegally, and concentrate on scouting and promoting better bands.

Taylor tells music magazine Kerrang, “Why would you blame (people who download music)? Half the f**king albums that are out there are s**t. I don’t download, but at the same time, I don’t buy new music ’cause it all sucks. Okay, there’s a handful of bands that I buy, but other than that, I just buy old s**t because old s**t is good. Sorry!

“People wanna blame the decline of album sales on downloading – I think it’s actually the record companies’ fault. I think it’s the quality of the product. If record companies would stop giving any f**king mook (idiot) on the street with a fringe a record deal or their own record label, maybe you would sell more f**king albums, dips**ts.”

  • YEAH THATS RIGHT!!!!!!

wow!. you know im like alot of other people i to said..FUCK SLIPKNOT SELLOUTS!… when they came out with their 3 album subliminal verses. but hold on corey has a point and a good one! i feel sorry for kids today i remember when i was in high school bands like static-x,system of a down, and yes…slipknot were just coming out.now no these bands did’nt “change the world” so to speak but at least the had some kind of meaning and substance.just look at what “kids” today have avenge seven fold, five finger death punch and flobots ouch now thats bad.todays music is predictable, generic and does’nt have very long shelf life.whats the cause? well yeah of course the record company and trendy band wagon jumpers aka (emo).but at the same time us the buyers, we stopped having standards and started settling for 1 hit wonders and catchy chorus’s. the music industry has taken steps back and not forward in the last few decades .instead of bringing us music that matters, they gave us bubble gum to chew for a few weeks.we were all so happy that we got rid of boy bands like backstreet,nsync,98 degrees and hanson but we did’nt get any thing good in return. no instead now we’ve gotten worse, with things like american idol, jonas brother and hannah montana it seems like there is just no end.90′s bands that were considered edgy and a new breed are now doing reunions and new albums, a good thing? well yes with bands like alice in chains, the toadies and rage against the machine all coming back from the dead it kind of brings back a glimmer of hope. that maybe it’s a sign that as “toadies” singer/gutarist
vaden todd lewis recently said (im angry again). a sign that some are indeed “angry” again and maybe thats just what we need some good old fashioned anger.because as bad as the music is there is some good. some bands have actually dropped poppy-catchy music for music that is a little harder then there previous efforts.slipknot is a great example of this with new songs such as psycho social, this cold black and gematria they bring back that FUCK YOU feeling you got from their selftitled and iowa.green day even stepped it up, with a not so good reaction to their album (WARNING) they decided to get angry (theres that word again) with american idiot. a album that focused on their and others dislike for president bush.so yes there are some signs that there is possible good on the way but hearing songs like (check yes julie) from we the kings still makes you feel that all hope is lost no pun intended.
