Amy Winehouse Refused to Attend Her Birthday Party
Troubled Amy Winehouse refused to attend her 25th birthday party in London at the weekend — because she thought she looked “f***ing ugly”.
The drugs-ravaged singer had a bust-up with pal Remi Nicole as she desperately tried to convince the star to make an appearance at the bash. But Winehouse was so concerned by her appearance, she refused to set foot outside
British singer Adele and super-producer Mark Ronson were among the guests who waited for Amy in central London’s Jazz After Dark club on Saturday.
The singer’s mom, Janis, who is battling multiple sclerosis, arrived at 9.30pm on crutches.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “Amy was standing in front of the mirror telling everyone how rough she looked.
“Unfortunately her lifestyle has had a major affect on her appearance and it’s only just started to sink in.
“She kept saying she was ugly and was in an awful state. They couldn’t get her out.
“Remi had organized the night and made a huge effort. They had a huge row.
“Amy can be very selfish — there was no convincing her and she ruined the night for everyone, including herself.”
Guests left at 2:30am after Amy failed to show.
Jazz After Dark landlord Sam Shaker said, “It was Amy’s mum Janis that I felt so sorry for. She was crying – she was so upset.”
