Poehler Leaves Saturday Night Live

Comedienne AMY POEHLER will leave her post at hit U.S. comedy sketch show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE to give birth to her first baby later this year (08).

Poehler announced her pregnancy with her husband, Arrested Development star Will Arnett, in April (08).

She has been widely-celebrated on the star-studded show for her charicature of former first lady and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

But the Baby Mama star insists she will not be returning to the show following her maternity leave – she will instead star in her own series – a spin-off of Steve Carell’s U.S. TV series The Office.

Poehler muses, “It’s gonna be really hard – Boyz II Men hard – to say goodbye to yesterday. SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down.”

Her last episode will air later this season (08), following the November presidential election.
