FALLEN pop star Michael Jackson is so desperate for his comeback album to be a success that he’s given his songwriters an ultimatum — make it better than Thriller or forget it.
Thriller, released in 1982, sold millions of copies worldwide; and Jackson, 50, is hoping to better the record’s success.
“Michael’s new album has to be amazing. I’ve already submitted some songs but we have no idea when it’s coming out. He keeps putting it off,” said singer/producer Ne-Yo, who is helping Jackson resurrect his career. “Michael is very nervous as he knows he’s the underdog and people want him to fail.
“It’s tough when all eyes are on him and there is so much young competition out there. This album needs to be better than Thriller. He wants killer melodies.”
Neyo, who has written chart-toppers for the likes of Beyonce and Rihanna, admits he was terrified when he first met Michael face to face.
“My hands were shaking like never before. But the great thing is that I get to work with my idol and he is really cool.”
In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of sexual abuse allegations and several other charges. His career has been in a downward spiral ever since.
