Donald Trump Sued By New York Lawyer
DONALD TRUMP has become the target of a $5 million (GBP2.7million) lawsuit filed by a Manhattan, New York lawyer who alleges the business tycoon’s Trump Organization failed to fix a leak in his office.
John Bostany filed suit against the real-estate mogul’s primary company, claiming his office – located in the city’s financial district in a building owned by Trump’s firm – was devastated by “a series of leaks and floods”.
He claims the water damage was caused by an inadequately-constructed roof that’s rendered him unable to work.
The lawyer agreed on Wednesday (24Sep08) to pay one month’s rent, a total of $22,000 (GBP11,892), in Manhattan Supreme Court, after the Trump Organization challenged Bostany in a lower court, claiming he has been defaulting on payments since last year (07).
Bostany says, “I made the mistake of trusting Donald Trump. I trusted the guy and I got hoodwinked (cheated).”
But Trump spokesman George Ross fires back: “His case is totally without merit. He hasn’t paid rent for a long period of time and that’s about it.”
The court judge is currently deciding whether the suits will be consolidated.
