Daniel Radcliffe Mourns Death of Grandma

Daniel Radcliffe is mourning the loss of his grandmother following her death last week.

Elsie Radcliffe — who lived in Northern Ireland — died on Thursday, October 2 after a long battle against illness.

The 79 year old — mother of Alan Radcliffe, the actor’s dad — was her grandson’s biggest fan, and flew to London last year to see his West End stage debut in controversial play Equus.

Elsie had been suffering from heart-related problems.

A family friend said, “She just lover her grandson so much and was so proud of him. Elsie was his number one fan and loved all the Harry Potter movies.”

Elsie Radcliffe’s funeral will take place from the First Presbyterian Non-Subscribing Church on the Downshire Road, Banbridge this week.

It is currently unknown whether the 19-year-old Harry Potter star, who is starring in the Broadway production of Equus, will fly back from New York to attend the memorial service.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about this. It feels terrible to lose a grandmother, or any family member, for that matter. I hope Daniel’s coping alright. Hopefully, he will be able to attend the memorial service.
Stay strong, Radcliffe family! We love you!

  3. It would be down-right unfair on the grieving family, and dispicably immoral if either crazy fans or press attended this funeral.I was much saddened by the news, but even more so by the fact that it was made public. It is the Radcliffe family buisness. But it would be made much worse if press attended,as they often do,taking horrible ‘candid’ pictures of the poor family who are trying to deal with their great loss.
    Hoping Daniel is ok.:)

  4. I know I’m only a fan but I do really understand how it feels to loose a grandmother and a mother, keep doing what made her happy and remember all the laughter and love. The fans should respect this time and not crash the funeral.
