David Beckham will leave his wife Victoria and their three sons in LA when he moves to Italy to join AC Milan in January.

The soccer star, 33, is set to sign for the Italian giants in a loan move from LA Galaxy, but his family will remain at their home in California – and will visit him only in the school holidays, according to reports.

A source says, “David loves spending time in America with Victoria and his kids but he knows how vital it is to play top-flight football in order to maintain his England place.

“Going to Milan could be his last chance to perform at the top level and to keep in shape for England matches.

“He will try to get back to Los Angeles as much as possible but it’s not an easy commute.

“It’s going to be difficult being apart from his family. His kids are in school there and Victoria is settled working in fashion, so it makes sense for them to stay there.”

Victoria, 34, has previously spoken of how happy she is living in America.

She said last month, “They are very positive, the Americans.

“When I am in my car they wave like we’re characters from Disney.

“We really like it here and have been made to feel very welcome.

“The kids are very happy at school, the weather is great and we have nice friends here. Tom Cruise is a really nice guy.”
