Billy Ray Cyrus Sends His Condolences to the Travoltas

Billy Ray Cyrus has sent his condolences to the Travolta family over the Friday death of their 16-year-old son Jett.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with John and his family,” said Billy Ray – whose daughter is 16-year-old Disney sensation Miley Cyrus. “They’re great human beings and strong people. And, again, our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

Billy and Miley grew close to the Travolta family during filming and promotion of Bolt, according to E! News.

According to John Travolta’s attorney Michael Ossi, Jett – who was vacationing with the Hairspray star and his wife Kelly Preston in the Caribbean – suffered a seizure at the family’s vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island.

Jett was taken to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. An autopsy is to be performed at the hospital.

Police spokesperson Loretta Mackey told TMZ that Jett hit his head on the bathtub. A caretaker named Jeff Michael Kathrain found Jett unconscious in the bathroom around 10 a.m.

It’s still unclear if Jett had a seizure that caused him to slip, or if a seizure occurred after he fell. “Not a tremendous amount” of blood was found on the scene, it has been reported.

Police have said that Jett was last seen going into the bathroom Jan. 1, but his body wasn’t found until 10 a.m. on Jan. 2.
