Allen Defends Female Pop Stars

Lily Allen has spoken out to defend female pop stars against music fans who think they are “puppets”.
The singer – who is gearing up to release her seconds studio album, It’s Not Me, It’s You – is angry people think women singers don’t have minds of their own.
She tells British music magazine NME, “I think people assume that with people like Duffy, Adele, me and Amy [Winehouse], that we are puppets being run by some bigger, more powerful men in the background.
“I don’t think people would think the same about Paolo Nutini and James Morrison.”
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Lily – whose first album, Alright Still, reached number two on the charts – said she is not confident in her musical abilities.
She told ITN, “I get really intimidated working with different people. I don’t think I’m very talented at all and I’m sure that people are just about to figure that out.
“Working with people I don’t know is very bad territory for me.”
