Emma Watson has applied to America’s prestigious Harvard university.

The British actress, 18 – who shot to fame playing Hermione Granger, one of three starring roles in the Harry Potter film series – has snubbed UK universities in favor of US President Barack Obama’s famous old college.

A source tells the News of The World newspaper, “Emma has always been a very dedicated student and made sure she could schedule her acting around her studies.

“She loves America and has loads of friends out there. She’s really excited about following some of the great thinkers in attending one of their great universities.”

“She plans to go to Harvard. But she hasn’t completely ruled out any of the other Ivy League colleges, in particular Yale and Brown as they are all great schools.”

Watson – who is said to be worth well over $20 million and is currently filming the final Potter film, Deathly Hallows – has previosuly spoken of her desire to put her acting on hold to focus on her eduction.

“I would like to go to university,” the star said last year. “I have a need now to study.”
