Justin Timberlake wants to become a theater actor.

The SexyBack hitmaker – who has had roles in the 2008 comedy The Love Guru and upcoming movie The Open Road with Jeff Bridges – is keen to test his acting talents on the stage, but fears his celebrity status could hinder his chances of being taken seriously.

He explains, “I think pop culture has done a number on creativity, because for me to make that statement [about wanting to work on theater], I get the reaction: ‘Really?’ It’s like, ‘Yeah, why wouldn’t I?’

“The opportunity is there. It’s sort of like, I have a day job, and this becomes a hobby [that] I can plunge into with full creative eagerness.”
