Fantasia Barrino has shot down claims Simon Cowell saved her from financial ruin – insisting the reports are “not true”.

Reports earlier this month claimed the music mogul – who was Barrino’s mentor on the 2004 season of American Idol - saved her $1.3 million house from foreclosure just days before it was due to be sold at auction, after reaching a deal with financiers.

But Fantasia has spoken out to set the record straight.

She says, “That’s not true. I’ve been working hard for five years. Don’t believe everything you hear.

“But if I could get Simon’s number…”
