Robert Pattinson wasn’t just ordered to wear braces for his role in Twilight – he was told gain weight, too.
The British actor – who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the film based on the novel by author Stephenie Meyer – lost so much weight while training for the role that the film’s director, Catherine Hardwicke, ordered him to eat more.
“I used to go to the gym for about five hours a day but then I started losing so such weight,” Rob said. “My head started to look really huge in comparison to the rest of my body.
“Catherine came up to me and said, ‘What are you doing to yourself?’
“[To gain weight] I literally stopped exercising. Eating a cheeseburger after two-and-a-half months of doing that – it tasted like ambrosia.”
Pattinson, 22, reprises his role as Cullen alongside Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart in Twilight sequel New Moon, due out later this year.
In May, Rob seen starring as Spanish painter Salvador Dali in the upcoming indie drama Little Ashes.
